Vasaparkens Parklek

Surrounding area: Vasaparkens Parklek is centrally located in Stockholm's Vasastan neighborhood. There are a very wide variety of shops and restaurants along Odengatan and a number of food stalls gatukök positioned through the park. You can also find a miniature golf course, a fully enclosed dog park, and an exercise park for adults.

Age groups: The playground is most appropriate for toddlers, preschool, middle school, or junior high school age children.

Features: Vasaparkens Parklek is quite large and features a colorful environment. There is also a small indoor area that is open during the playground operating hours (more information on their Facebook page here). This area has a small section for toddlers that is furnish with toys, a kitchen with two tables, and baby chairs. There is also a sofa ideal for mothers wanting to breastfeed when it is cold outside. The indoor area has a room for 10 - 15 year-olds with an air hockey table, table football, billiards, and a ping-pong table.

  • A rope climbing structure located on a rubber hill
  • Three trampolines of different sizes
  • Various height rubber hills
  • Two large slides built into the rubber hill
  • A standalone toddler slide near the swings
  • A low rock climbing wall
  • A swing set including two bucket swings, three tandem swings, and a regular swing
  • A basket swing
  • A small sand pit with toys
  • A pedal-bike carousel
  • A pretend play car made from wood
  • Painted stepping/hopping stones
  • A water play shower that is activated in the summer months
  • An old truck that has been converted for pretend play
  • Painted floor games such as hopscotch and tic-tac-toe
  • Hand-made games on the walls of the playground house
  • An open sports area with a basketball half court, small goals, and a ping-pong table
In addition, during the playground operating hours children can play with various bicycles but also other outdoor toys such as hockey sticks and balls. In the winter months you can also borrow helmets and ice skates.
Accessibility: The playground has a basket swing but does not have other accessible equipment.

Safety: The swing set, the toddler slide and the low climbing wall are on rubber padding. The swing set is protected by a metal rail to prevent other children from entering while it is in play. The large rubber hill has a rope fence along its high edges. The basketball area has a low fence and cement wall but the other side of the park is not fenced.

Shade: The indoor area itself has an overhang constructed around the building. There is also an overhang on the play stage. There are many trees in the park but the children's area is primarily open.

Seating: There are many areas to sit, including picnic tables, benches and chairs along some play areas.

Picnic area: There are a few picnic areas around the park and near the playground. There are two picnic tables within the playground.

Restroom and changing table: During the business operating hours of the park, there are restrooms and a changing table available. You can also find a public restroom nearby at the park entry on Odengatan street.

Strollers and bikes: There is a specific area marked on the ground for parking strollers. There are no specific areas to lock a bicycle in the children's area but there are bike racks along Odengatan.

Seasonal: The park has a football field that is converted into an ice skating rink during the winter months. Additionally, the hills in Vasaparken make it the perfect place for sledding when there is a sufficient amount of snow on the ground.
