The Viking Museum

The Viking Museum brings the Viking age to life once again. The museum was conceived by Staffan Götestam, the same mind behind Junibacken. There are many interactive elements to highlight this time in history and an engaging ride that tells a captivating story. The entire staff of the museum are scientists which adds extra value to the experience.
Surrounding area: The Viking Museum is located on Djurgården, an island in Stockholm known for its museums. It is situated along the water and has a beautiful view on the city.

The main exhibition

has interactive objects such as a viking helmet you can wear, a children's dress up corner, a rune for you to write a runic message, a large viking game board (Hnefatafl), and a viking throne room with toy swords and shields. In addition, there are two kinds of children's scavenger hunts that can be found at the museum entrance.

The Ragnfrid’s Saga ride

was inspired by the story train at Junibacken and offers a similar experience but for older children (ages 7 and up recommended). The story deals with viking age realities that may not be appropriate for very young children.
